The Socialist Party campaigns, as part of working class communities, against all of
the attacks of the Government and big business - from the privatisation of the NHS,
to the ending of free university education,
to the destruction of our environment. We fight for a new socialist society based on
meeting the needs of all; instead of the current capitalist system that exists to
provide profits for a few billionaire fat cats.
Steve Score, a leading member of our party in the East Midlands, will be standing in Leicester West, against Patricia Hewitt.
We think that her combined salary and expenses of £1/4 million represents good value for the people of that constituency.
Steve, like all our party members who stand for elected positions, will only receive the average wage of a skilled worker if elected.
Only by doing this can politicians remain in touch with the problems faced by their electorate.

 On 5th November, PCS members in Leicester took part in a nationwide strike against Blair's plans to axe 104,000 civil service jobs.
A rally after the event explained why members were taking action and argued for united action across the public sector and a socialist alternative to the main political parties.

The New Labour / Tory coalition is now in charge of Leicester Council.
Labour claim that they will reverse some of the cuts made by the Liberals and Tories. However, with a general election coming up, they are hardly likely to say anything else!
You can't trust the main political parties to deliver. It is time for a socialist alternative.
